Night Tapes Return with Whimsical Jewel ‘television’

Night Tapes have been a staple of my 2024, so much so that I also caught them live in London in October. Making strides across the globe (most recently winning a Music Moves Europe Award at Eurosonic Noorderslag), the London-based visionary trio champions a whimsical, ethereal take on indie pop, penning blissful, otherworldly pieces that are at times elegant and composed, at others euphoric and joyful.

Night Tape’s latest effort ‘television’ oscillates between those two extremes, boasting a rather composed livery and minimal arrangement, but also the evocative, rich and expansive falsetto vocals of frontwoman Iiris Vesik, truly cathartic and otherworldly. Max Doohan and Sam Richards complete the lineup, doing a brilliant job on the production.

Overall, Night Tapes’ artistry is truly unique, a quality that’s pushing them forward in the industry at breakneck speed. If you love pensive, astral music and are often found daydreaming, then you’ll find the group’s music nearly irresistible. ‘television’ will certainly contribute to that.
