Inspired by memories of her childhood and the patterns that have shaped her life, Nicole weaves together a tapestry of musical styles and influences that is both bold and innovative.
The album opens with ‘Spend a Little Time’, instantly drawing the listener into its sonic imprint. The contrast between Saphos’ relatable and friendly vocals and the more complex instrumental material is quite evocative, especially when coming across fusion/jazz guitar solos and free-form drum patterns. ‘And Only’ lets in on more straight and conventional arrangements, although with a certain minimalistic flair: bass and drums carry the track forward.
