Nick Pike Unveils Evocative Neo-Classical Album ‘Phraxia’

We found a great deal of comfort in ‘Phraxia’. In a world that moves at a billion miles an hour, it’s increasingly difficult to experience a simple moment of stillness, a fragment of existential catharsis aimed at introspection and deep reflection. Well, ‘Phraxia’ caters to exactly that, wrapping listeners into a poignant aural experience, one that’s incredibly cinematic and evocative. Anyone willing to adventure into Nick Pike’s rich artistry will be transported to an otherworldly universe.

A universe made up of round clouds, smooth purple horizons, and an overwhelmingly heartwarming energy. That’s what Pike’s nuanced piano playing evokes. A talented neo-classical composer and gifted instrumentalist, the British creative is often seen blending his piano-driven roots with cinematic atmospheres and boundary-pushing electronic textures. It’s not a particularly experimental formula, but one that works very well for crafting relatable pieces of sonic goodness.

Echoing the likes of Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, Yiruma, Alexis Ffrench, Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahms, ‘Phraxia’ makes ample use of Pike’s diverse and eclectic influences. From classical melodies to Jazz-flavoured harmonies, passing through new-age soundscapes and ambient-like textures, there’s something for everybody in the album, and we are confident the record will find a dedicated audience out there.
