Nick Catoire Drops Personal Confession ‘there for you’

If you’d ask me to give you an example of poignant honesty, I’d likely show you Nick Catoire’s latest effort, ‘there for you’. Boasting incredibly personal lyricism, the piece draws from the American songwriter’s personal experience, exposing all the vulnerabilities sparked by a period of intense loneliness and isolation. We suspect that a substantial number of humans will connect with it; in our hyper-digital world, companionship is often a rare currency.

Out today, ‘there for you’ manifests itself as a slow-paced, acoustic piece, a soothing and evocative jewel pushed into haunting territories by a few hidden, gentle textures. Catoire’s expressive, cathartic vocals carry an intensely hypnotising flair, wrapping listeners into an unapologetic personal confession, one that’s Queer-coded and deeply meaningful. Moreover, ‘there for you’ anticipates Nick’s upcoming EP ‘Hollow’.

Delving deeper into the inspiration behind ‘there for you’, Catoire explains: “I guess the truth of it is that I wrote this song in isolation. Hiding myself away in a dimly lit bedroom, not wanting to be perceived, not wanting to allow the possibility of being hurt by another person. I spent the last few years feeling like a ghost. Staring at a phone screen. Distracting my brain. There was nothing around me that felt like I was living a real life. I was trying to understand if this is what it feels like to be a gay person, or if this is just what it feels like to be human.”
