New Welsh Band SPWCI Impresses with Roaring Single ‘Flow’

We try not to judge young bands, as we believe in letting them develop gradually, leaving ample room to breathe and explore. That said, we are willing to judge SPWCI right now, telling you all that they are, in fact, the next big thing. How could they not? Their sonic character is highly enticing, with roaring guitar oscillating between grunge fierceness and bluesy elegance; vocals are to die for, delivered with understated euphoria and rebellious flair. The band’s latest single, ‘Flow’, is the perfect evidence of that, out now via Death Monkey Records.

Part of the youth rock renaissance, SPWCI (pronounced as ‘spooky’) chose an alternative path, embracing a towering rock’n’roll livery that’s partly psychedelic. Lead singer Matilda does a good job on the lyrical front, unveiling an unapologetic attitude that goes a long way in building the aforementioned psych references. Jam on guitar, Joe on drums, and Froggie on bass complete the talented lineup. Hailing from Swansea, the Welsh outfit has struck gold; let’s see how fast they can bloom into a national phenomenon.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Flow’, SPWCI explain: “It explores surrendering to what can’t be controlled and learning to move with life rather than against it. Inspired by a shift toward living in the moment, the lyrics reflect the emotional release that comes from letting go of rigid expectations and embracing clarity, even amid difficulty.”
