Naomi King Unveils Fierce Alt-Rock Anthem ‘Fetish’

Introduced by misty and gloomy textures, ‘Fetish’ moves with unfiltered quirkiness and fierce character, navigating alt-rock styling with a strong pop prowess. The latest effort by Canadian songstress Naomi King, the record carries honest and stark storytelling, functioning as a sort of personal anthem towards toxic and misleading friendships. Friendly planted in personal experience, ‘Fetish’ combines King’s sharp and witty songwriting with fuzzy and hard-hitting musical matter, a combo which leaves the listeners powerless, fully drawn to such a powerful offering.

Sonically, it’s not all guitar extravaganza: the single is quite eclectic at first, showcasing Naomi’s King modern artistry. Not limited by any pre-defined genre boxes, the Vancouver-based talent simply explores what resonates best with their own creative flair, in this case being furious and evocative rock arrangements, quite dark and daring.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, King explains: “‘Fetish’ is a song I wrote about a friend. Funnily enough, just a few months after I’d written it, he proved himself to be exactly what I knew he was. If only I’d listened to myself and trusted my gut. I know who I am in the eyes of men – I’m a fetish.” Naomi’s upcoming album, ‘Black Water’, is expected for May 17th.
