There seems to be a heated debate about what music should stand for. Some see it as a way to enact social change, a way to voice common frustrations and spread positive messages. Others see it as a more cathartic, ethereal way to escape reality, an intimate moment of reflection that enables us to transcend our physical shape. Well, we especially believe in the latter category; we do like to be dreaming! muunroo probably shares the same belief, having just unveiled a stunning new age piano composition that’s a joy to listen to.
‘Late Road’ doesn’t truly need an explanation or a deep dive into its artistic circumstances. Simply, it has to be experienced, it has to be accepted with an open heart, letting the Latvian’s creative and composer slowly lull you to an alternative universe, one where emotions run free and we can finally be honest with ourselves. It’s a poignant moment of reckoning, one that we won’t forget anytime soon.
Known by day as Gatis Sturniek, the Latvian musician champions an eclectic perspective on his music, simply wanting to gift nuggets of sonic goodness to the wider world. Crucially, there’s also a strong improvisational ethos in his work, with muunroo often letting his imagination run free during the recording process.
