Mr Pigeons Delivers Leftfield Rap Album ‘Goldilox Zone’

Mr Pigeons describes his own Goldilocks space as the optimal status where creativity, life and personal values are deeply aligned, a space where he can be unapologetically himself…

‘Goldilox Zone’ is a rather unconventional hip-hop album, and a record that you’ll likely be very glad to have discovered. Penned by Dutch rapper and creative Mr Pigeons, the record jumps with both feet into experimental waters, a stunning display of what the project has to offer. Personally, we are quite impressed; this is certainly one of the most interesting rap offerings we have heard this year.

If we had to describe the album, we’d probably use the word hypnotic; mesmerising, if you will… Across nine like-minded pieces, listeners are drawn to vaporous, leftfield beats that evoke an otherworldly aura. Lyrically, ‘Goldilox Zone’ feels rather introspective and blissful, a sharp, imaginative record that’s very far away from any hip-hop thematic tropes. Instead, we get a body of work that’s layered and meaningful, with Mr Pigeons essentially seeking a utopian idea of perfection and universal alignment.

The project draws from the Astrobiological concept of the Goldilocks zone, the habitable zone around a star where conditions are just right for liquid water to exist. This image is then shrouded in dreaminess and inner meaning, with Mr Pigeons describing his own Goldilocks space as the optimal mental status where creativity, life and personal values are deeply aligned, a space where he can be unapologetically himself. We suspect people will relate to such a strong message… after all, isn’t that what we all yearn for?
