Active across continents, Italian-born and New York-based creative Molto Ohm has quietly put together a stunningly thematic and complex bundle of sonic explorations, the temporary conclusion of a life spent in the search for artistic authenticity. Known by day as Matteo Liberatore, the talented composer and visionary has recently returned with his latest cut, a bittersweet, crepuscular gem featuring Jachary’s nuanced vocals.
‘Vantorinex’ is far away from the industrial-coded, intense electronica of Ohm’s previous album ‘FEED’. Instead, the single uncovers a partly melancholic ballad with a great deal of meaningful lyricism and tender melodies. If ever, this is a winning display of Liberatore’s creative depth; he’s seeking a specific mood, moving across musical idioms to hold a unique idea. The experience won’t stop here, either, as ‘Vantorinex’ is taken from Molto Ohm’s forthcoming album ‘Reality Pills’, loosely based on philosopher Jean Baudrillard’s concept of hyperreality.
Delving deeper on te record, we are told: “The album explores how digital representations, once reflections of the real, have become more vivid, more compelling, and ultimately more ‘real’ than reality itself. ‘Reality Pills’ offers a prescription that is both critique and salve: immersive, reflective, and subtly disorienting.”
