Being lulled into a blissful dream state by MIRET & OCHOA wasn’t on our bingo card, but here we are… The Barcelona-based duo has recently unveiled the most hypnotising, soothing and cinematic record we have heard lately, a stunning nugget of delicate soundscapes and wholesome euphoria. ‘Blue’ is the EP in question, a brief yet hard-hitting three-track collection exploring all the eclecticism and ambient-driven electronica championed by the creative pair.
Formed by Mexican DJ and producer MiRET and pianist and composer Juan J. Ochoa, the project particularly focuses on liminal arpeggios and long soundscapes, further enhanced by prepared piano and heart-shaking harmonies. Standing as the group’s debut record, ‘Blue’ is a compelling offering, a cathartic journey through nostalgic imagery and melancholic, bittersweet melodies. It’s better enjoyed at night, perhaps in a state of deep reflection and personal reckoning.
