Melany Thompson Shares Cinematic Piano Album ‘Mood Blue’

Showcasing her compositional expertise and cinematic allure, Aussie pianist and writer Melany Thomson unveils a poignant piano solo album, ‘Mood Blue’.

As one listens to ‘Mood Blue’, a heightened sense of escapism and inner peace arises. In a sense, the record allows us to enjoy a heartfelt moment of intimacy and purposeful introspection, a feeling that’s rather magical nowadays. In a world that’s increasingly complex and conflict-driven, talented creatives such as Melany Thompson help lighten its emotional toll. We are certainly grateful to her, and in truth, the album made its way to us during a rather busy day for the author of this piece… the listening experience proved to be a timely and needed calming experience.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Thompson has built a strikingly successful career for herself. A trained pianist and a fruitful composer, the gifted musician is active both in original music territories and also as a cinematic writer, syncing tunes on TV programs across Australia and the US. Recently, she was nominated for an APRA Screen Music Award as part of the team behind the crime underscore for the Aussie series Murder Down Under.

Delving deeper into her nuanced and meaningful compositional work, Thompson explains: “‘Mood Blue’ explores the many shades of blue, sadness and serenity, depth and quiet beauty. Through intimate piano pieces, the album invites stillness, patience, and presence. This is music for reflection, for waiting, for simply being with what is. It is an invitation to look outward and upward and find peace with our own inner blue.”
