Max Norton Introduces a New Creative Era with ‘The Breakers’

Max Norton is who you’d call a successful session musician. Having spent the best part of the last decade playing drums for established artists all around the globe, the talented multi-instrumentalist has now decided to step into the limelight himself, embracing songwriting and looking forward to developing his solo project. Active since 2023, such an endeavour has recently been kick-started again, with ‘The Breaker’ initiating a new creative era, so to speak. Of course, anything that Norton does carries his longstanding musical experience.

Because of that, ‘The Breakers’ reveals itself as a really good single from the get-go, a nugget of evocative and nostalgic indie-rock that doesn’t seek to reinvent the wheel; simply, it perfects it. Guitars are heartwarming yet gritty, drums are fierce but also controlled. The track does a good job of coming across as both rowdy and melancholic, potentially targeting a wide audience. Norton’s vocals are malleable and precise, perfectly fitting their aural counterpart.

Now based in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Max has spent the past year and a half in London, UK, adding the British city to his international pedigree. Delving deeper into ‘The Breaker, Norton explains: “The Breakers is about moving forward and bridging the gap from who you once were to who you are now.”
