We have been following Matya for the better part of a year now, and it’s fair to say she’s a girl on a mission: becoming the industry’s next alt-pop phenomenon. Constantly oscillating between haunting, sultry vibes and more uplifting, indie-flavoured anthems, the Los Angeles-based songstress boasts elegant and luscious vocals, wrapping the listeners in fiery energy and dreamy escapism.
Following up on her latest EP ‘Like The Roses, So It Goeses’ – which brought Matya’s glorious breakout year to a close – the talented creative now returns with a stunning, sensual music video for ‘Night Light’, one of the record’s most vintage-flavoured, groovy episodes. Upon a stream of bubbly synths and intriguing bass lines, Matya delivers majestic, poppy vocals, in what is a perfectly packaged nugget of buoyant joy.
Filmed in Paris, the video follows her dancing in the street, echoing the song’s positive, daring message of “discovering a new perspective.” Often spending time in the French capital, Matya is one of the most interesting, stirring projects we have heard in a while – she’s the real deal.
