Martron Shifts Into a More Evocative Gear with ‘Tonight’

‘Tonight’ sees Martron turning his attention towards more evocative territories, yet always carrying his overall hypnotic and kinetic character, inviting both abstraction and dancing.

The keen reader might remember Los Angeles-based producer and sonic visionary Martron from an article we published last summer, praising ‘Resurgence’ EP as “a space that we feel blessed to enter, a wealth of roaring, distorted dubstep bass tones and garage-esque bouncy beats alongside bright female vocals and chopped-up samples”. If that very same record was rather hard-hitting and bold, drawing heavily from club-oriented influences, Martron’s latest effort, ‘Tonight’, embarks on slightly mellower territories while still carrying the dancefloor-powered charge that makes the project so relevant and timely.

From a production standpoint, we notice a striking shift towards chill-out influences and laidback grooves, an evocative allure that well fits the piece’s lyrical ethos. In fact, ‘Tonight’ was released on Valentine’s Day, a purposeful choice that sets the scene for the vast emotional burden that propels the record. Furthermore, the track is taken from an upcoming EP, aptly titled ‘Passion’. We suspect the EP will continue Martron’s foray into gentler production styles, although always upbeat and kinetic.

Delving deeper into the ethos behind the track, Martron explains: “‘Tonight’ is about those moments where the world feels like it disappears. It’s just you, the people you’re with, and the energy you’re creating together. I’ve written about a lot of heavier topics over the past couple of projects, and I wanted to let something more lighthearted and fun shine through this time. With some of my fondest memories happening during incredible nights shared with friends and the people I love, ‘Tonight’ felt like the perfect way to capture that feeling.”
