Marlowe Unleashes Striking Debut Album ‘SUBMISSIVE’

A modern, dynamic record, ‘SUBMISSIVE’ marks Marlowe’s debut album, a slice of playful yet meaningful pop goodness steeped in personal experience and cathartic realisations. Hailing from London, Marlowe writes material that’s partly euphoric and fun, partly reflective and deep. Such distinction is particularly relevant when seen through the record’s aural/lyrical divide, with uplifting pop energy contrasting gracefully with the catchy, yet detailed and wholesome songwriting behind it.

‘SUBMISSIVE’ is the perfect evidence of that. In it, Marlowe seeks to defy societal expectations and all the behavioural conditioning they absorbed throughout the years. Such a powerful theme is developed both through an intimate, private plane – inspired by the artist’s own experience – and a collective one, with Marlowe seeking to slowly unfurl any outside influence and imposed beliefs. As they eloquently explained: “I describe the project as a song cycle that explores the unravelling of a people-pleaser – something I grapple with every day”.

Originally from Venezuela and now based in London, the talented creative appears in their best creative shape yet, a feeling that’s reflected in the plethora of tastemakers and industry publications that have supported them so far. The likes of BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, The New Age Magazine, Ones To Watch, and EQ Music, among others. Indeed, it seems to be a pivotal year for Marlowe.
