MAKEUP Returns with Cinematic Dream-Pop Cut ‘Finger Driver’

Actress Sophia Del Pizzo returns with her MAKEUP persona, sharing a phenomenally hypnotic slice of cinematic dream-pop. ‘Finger Driver’ is a whole aural experience.

Listeners might recognise MAKEUP as Peskimo; they are the same creative entity, two musical personas with slightly different twists. If the latter sports a gritty and noisy electronica flair, steeped in dance-flavourings and industrial allure, the former is instead focused on cinematic synth-pop, dreamy melodies and a certain lyrical urgency. Behind such bold musical explorations, we find renowned Los Angeles-based actress Sophia Del Pizzo.

‘Finger Driver’ is MAKEUP’s latest effort, a worthy follow-up to last year’s ‘12 years’ and ‘Summer Anthem’. As true for the whole project, the new single uncovers Del Pizzo’s most hazy and hypnotic character to date, a stunning blend between dream-pop, soundtrack-esque melancholy and ethereal charge. MAKEUP’s vocals are often clustered in otherworldly, brooding harmonies, wrapping listeners into an escapism-coded aural experience.

Darkly romantic and sonically elegant, ‘Finger Driver’ features introspective lyricism and relatable imagery. Alongside MAKEUP, the record also includes the nuanced production of Grammy-winning producer and engineer Steven Weston.
