We already had the pleasure of coming across hypnotising indie heroes Trudy Bennett and Jarrin Borg. Writing about ‘Pixels’ earlier this year, we proudly described Lucille Two as “steeped in angelic, spacious vocals and playfully eclectic sound design”. Well, the talented creatives confirm their worth in ‘Seasons’, a single that’s perhaps more decadent and vintage-flavoured, yet still steeped in the project’s whimsical, kaleidoscopic aural livery and imaginative lyricism.
Despite the rumbling guitars taking us back to the power-pop and surf-rock eras, Bennett’s hazy, hypnotising vocals throw ‘Seasons’ back into dreamy territories, initiating a quirky fever-dream that’s also slightly psychedelic. In essence, it’s an experience like no other, one that will likely transform you into a long-term Lucille Two fan. Overall, the constant balance between melancholia and dreaminess takes the win, making ‘Seasons’ an absolute stand-out and a worthy discovery.
