Les Gillon and The Agents of Karma Share Wholesome EP ‘After Party Sunrise’

Les Gillon Teams up with The Agents of Karma for a wholesome, nostalgic and partly acoustic EP, ‘After Party Sunrise’.

There’s a keen sense of nostalgia in ‘After Party Sunrise’ EP, yet not the kind that would cause a deep melancholic rift. Instead, it’s more about paying homage to heartwarming memories, recognising the unrepentant flow of life and its relentless ups and downs. Venturing across folk, classical music and hints of jazz with brazen courage, the record finds fertile territory in a quai-acoustic setting, with fiddles and guitars dominating the aural picture. This doesn’t stop ‘After Party Sunrise’ from feeling full and intense when it needs to.

Behind ‘After Party Sunrise’ there’s a group of very talented musicians headed by Calderdale-based singer, songwriter and guitarist Les Gillon, mainly known for being the frontman of alt-rock band Fez. Alongside Les Gillon on guitar /vocals, we find Julia Farrants on cello, Jen Trott on violin and vocals, Dave Nelson on piano and vocals, and Andrew Duncan on percussion, here collected under the guise of The Agents of Karma

Delving deeper into the album’s lyrical ethos, Les Gillon explains: “The title track ‘After Party Sunrise’ is about that still calm moment of reflection having come through the storms, and then lived it up in riotous celebration of life. The other songs include an updating of a Shakespearean tragedy, a bare-knuckle ride through the strangeness of human existence and a hymn to these special places where music, love and comradeship thrive.” As one can easily notice, the songwriting behind the project is as wholesome as its aural content.
