It’s always inspiring to learn about everyone’s creative journeys; there are truly talented folks in our world, people willing to travel and fully commit to their craft, gaining experience on the global stage while developing a highly personal take on specific skills. Leonardo Cococcia is the perfect example of that. Originally from Abruzzo, Italy, the young producer, audio engineer, and guitarist moved to Boston to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music, a highly fertile artistic hub that allowed him to connect with like-minded peeps and a series of pivotal mentors.
Fast-forward to today, and he’s already achieved some incredible milestones, working on projects covered by The New York Times and Billboard, among others. His work has been released on a variety of labels across a variety of genres, including soul, contemporary pop, and electronica. Recently, Leonardo was able to work alongside Tatsuya Sato (Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Juice WRLD), and take part in recordings at the legendary Power Station Studio.
Delving deeper into his creative philosophy, Cococcia explains: “As an audio engineer, I specialise in mastering, a process that I truly see as the creative and emotional expansion of the music, rather than something that is exclusively technical, inspired by my mentors, the team of Dave Kutch. As a recording and mixing engineer, I am forever energised by the raw, honest approach of Steve Albini as well as the engineers at The Bunker Studios, Brooklyn.” Cococcia is now based in Rome, and he’s looking forward to the next stage of his fast-developing career.
