We have been following Los Angeles-based outfit LED for a while. A teenage supergroup, the project unites three very talented and promising artists: Edie Yvonne on vocals and bass, Layne Olivia on vocals and guitar, and Lockett Pentz. While their discography so far is rather limited, we are happy to announce that LED have recently returned with their third single to date, ‘“Your Perfect”’. The track follows up on last year’s ‘Goodbye Eric’ and ‘Lies All Lies’. Originally meeting at Shanelle Gray’s film camp two years ago, LED have now bloomed into an unapologetic musical sensation.
From a sonic standpoint, ‘“Your Perfect”’ marks a definite step into the right direction, with LED’s production getting better and better, leaning heavily into gritty, alternative and grunge territories. Of course, the melodic flair is still there, with Yvonne and Olivia’s evocative vocals delivering an honest and unfiltered tale of personal empowerment.
Teenagers at their peak, LED are influenced by the ever-changing cultural chaos around them, as well as the emotional reckoning surrounding the pains of growing up. As we are told, ‘“Your Perfect”’ is a “bittersweet tune about the messy truth about feeling like you are never enough. Edie and Layne shared stories about the drama of high school, the sting of unrequited crushes and the pressure to live up to someone else’s ideal.” We are confident there’s a wide audience of like-minded folks out there which will greatly resonate with the record.
