Rebellious and fierce, ‘Science Friction’ is the kind of euphoric post-punk effort that’s hard to resist. Penned by Reading-based outfit Launch Control, the record navigates striking alt-rock guitar tones and metal-flavoured drum grooves, delivering a listening experience that’s fast-paced, high-octane and rather hypnotising, with head honcho Lee Switzer-Woolf lending his dynamic, relatable vocals to the cause.
In fact, we have already covered Switzer-Woolf last year, writing about his solo project. It’s great to see him back with new music, taking up the Launch Control identity once again. Having released three singles this year, the project seems set towards a follow-up to their 2020 EP ‘Attention Economy’. Such a meaningful, societally driven lyricism seems to be a constant in Launch Control’s songwriting efforts, with the band keen to show us a more sustainable and truthful path forward.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Science Friction’, the British creatives explain: “It’s a more technical skate punk track taking aim at the anti-science rhetoric and modern internet conspiracy theorism – Myths evolve and swallow facts.” Alex J Steer and Seb Olward join Switzer-Woolf on the project.
