laum Crowns His Debut Year with Hypnotic Single ‘Float’

It’s been quite the year for French producer laum. Following up on “twelve years of artistic research”, the Paris-based creative appears to have landed on a truly hypnotic and mesmerising formula, a slice of ethereal electronica wrapped in nocturne, mysterious textures. ‘Float’ is the perfect example of that. Continuing the artistic journey initiated by ‘Tell Me’ and ‘Let Go’, the new single pushes the project’s boundaries even further, threading the fine line between leftfield electronica, trip-hop, and downtempo melodies.

Carrying a heightened cinematic charge, ‘Float’ feels intense and dramatic, a record packed with suspense and dystopian allure. The slightly detuned synths under laum’s vocals go a long way in evoking a deep sense of otherworldly musical flair. We appreciate the keen sense of escapism in it, sparking a listening experience that’s akin to an aural fever dream, one we wish we could get lost in.

Delving deeper into the upcoming EP, the French artist explains: “It explores the moment when you stop running. When you stop numbing yourself to what no longer works. When you face the truth, even if it hurts, and take back control. Songs about love that’s dying, truths we don’t want to hear, distractions that slowly destroy us, but ending with a call to wake up: take your life back.”
