Laughing Cats Release Bold and Retro-Inspired Sophomore Single ‘Jerk’

The recently formed Laughing Cats, featuring Lauren Schiff and Tony Fredianelli, already boast streaming numbers that defy their newcomer status. Hailing from New York City and California respectively, the pair released their debut single ‘GYB’ just over two months ago. Sitting on more than 122,000 Spotify plays, it’s fair to say the anthemic and seriously danceable tune resonated widely! Now, Laughing Cats return with their sophomore offering ‘Jerk’, a unique and infectious track that leans heavily into elements of 80s and 90s alternative pop.

With a love for acts like New Order, Tears for Fears, The Cure, and Depeche Mode, Laughing Cats channel timeless influences into something completely fresh and distinctive. ‘Jerk’ is the perfect example of this…and showcases an outfit ready to take its bold, exciting, and retro-inspired sound to new heights.

Lyrically, Lauren found inspiration in a real-life story based on self-reflection and positive growth. “We have all been in a position where we needed to self-reflect, change our behaviour, and evolve to be a better human, for ourselves and others,” she says.

‘Jerk’ will form part of Laughing Cats’ debut album ‘Funny Money’, a record which will be released waterfall style every four to six weeks. We can’t wait!
