Marking a long-awaited new milestone for the project, London-based disco-funk trio LA WOMEN has recently returned with their brand new EP, ‘Control’, a record that feels electrifying, uplifting and incredibly relevant. Packed with five like-minded gems, the EP collects a series of singles that go as far back as 2023, signalling the amount of work that probably went into the finished record.
‘Hello Of A Night’ reminds us of British band Jungle, right before the title track ‘Control’ shifts the mood into club-oriented, dance-driven settings. A groovy bass seems to be a common element across the record, together with nostalgic synth additions and playful, bubbly vocal melodies. Originally from New Zealand, Jake Schdroski, Zac Emerson, and Jesse Brown appear not to have lost their magical sonic sheen. We are looking forward to a glorious new era for LA WOMEN.
Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels the EP, we are told: “It depicts an evening spanning status anxiety to sunrise over five songs that take you on a rollercoaster of paranoia, chaos, chasing a high, coming down hard, then finally coming up for air. The resulting body of work is built around dopamine-rush synth breakdowns, propulsive basslines and four-on-the-floor grooves.”
