Kristen Castro Gears Up for Upcoming Album with ‘Summer Rain’

Music never lies; you can hear the talent and the expertise. Take ‘Summer Rain’, for instance. An uplifting, charismatic nugget of hope and resilience, the track feels incredibly catchy and hazy, instantly showcasing all of Kristen Castro’s creative energy and talent. A former member of American band Maybe April, Castro is now a high-achieving producer and songwriter, as well as a requested musician and touring party.

‘Summer Rain’ marks the arrival of Castro’s upcoming album, expected on August 29; if the single is anything to go by, we are in for a stunning record. References are quite dreamy and vibrant, perfectly conveying Kristen’s laidback, feverish, and otherworldly artistry. Her luscious and elegant vocals are the perfect match for such a powerful single, allowing ‘Summer Rain’ to resonate with any sensible listener out there.

A multi-layered effort with tons of intimate meaning, the song reflects on Castro’s transformation over the last few years, one that’s both personal and musical. As Kristen explains: “In five years, I went from wanting to walk away from music to being someone who speaks from honesty and uplifts others in creative spaces. This song is the encapsulation of ‘ego death’. It’s about the ache of death and rebirth, rain on sun-warmed skin as you fall apart, only to find yourself five years later.”
