Kerry Kenny Band Gear Up for Irish Folk Album with ‘Finbar’

Kerry Kenny’s ‘Finbar’ is a theatrical venture into Irish Folklore, a euphoric, hypnotic gem steeped in a continuous whirlwind of dramatic fiddles and kinetic escapism. It’s the torchbearer of a forthcoming album.

Anticipating her forthcoming album ‘Brutal Best’, Scranton-based creative Kerry Kenny firmly raises the hype over her infectious blend of Irish folk euphoria and eclectic allure, with ‘Finbar’ being the torchbearer of the project’s bright future. The listening experience behind the single is rather unique and hypnotic, a continuous whirlwind of dramatic fiddles, kinetic, alternative grooves and heartwarming guitars, the perfect match for Kenny’s anthemic, expansive vocals, here tinged with a certain ‘sacred’ character.

In true Celtic fashion, ‘Finbar’ provides a gripping soundtrack for an evening of dance by the communal fire; that is, if you live in the countryside and enjoy a leftfield lifestyle. If not, you are allowed to dance anywhere you are; such is the liberating power of Kerry Kenny’s artistry. Irish music has always been at the core of the American singer’s musical journey, yet she’s never shied away from more modern influences, an aural cauldron that has now become a sort of signature mark for Kenny.

A parallel can perhaps be made between Kerry’s wide-ranging musical taste and her wandering spirit; she’s travelled the world far and wide, and she’s familiarised herself with a ton of different cultures. We suspect that’s where the hints of world music in her projects come from. ‘Finbar’ is out now, and ships with a wonderful video co-directed with Tom Robenolt of Point Five Films.
