JB Elwood has been a familiar figure this year for Mesmerized. Hailing from Austin, the talented troubadour champions an eclectic and meaningful songwriting style that oscillates between modernism and tradition. Blending heartwarming Folk and Americana atmospheres with anthemic pop melodies, Elwood has developed a personal style that feels relatable, meaningful, yet also uplifting and vibrant. Recently, the American creative returned with his latest effort, ‘Back Someday’.
In it, JB appears to recount and celebrate his Appalachian roots, remembering his family and his parents’ efforts to give him a good life. They did succeed at that, as Elwood proudly showcases. In fact, ‘Back Someday’ feels quite evocative and poignant, with a cathartic vocal motif that’s bound to initiate an introspective, nostalgic reflection in every listener out there. The track also features a ‘Woodrow’, an Appalachian string instrument that adds a layer of authenticity to an already wholesome record.
‘Back Someday’ also benefits from the attentive production of Nashville-based Andrew Middleton. Delving deeper into the inspiration behind the song, Elwood explains: “This song is for my parents. They sacrificed so much to give me the life I have now. Even though I’ve planted new roots in Austin, I’ll always find my way back home someday. That promise is at the heart of this song.”
