James Fiori Shares Enigmatic Piece ‘Power’

Wrapped in mystery and anonymity, ‘Power’ is one of the most unique and quirky records we have ever heard. It’s unlike anything else: oscillating between electronica, hip-hop and prog-rock influences, the track calmly shifts from distorted guitar euphoria to glitchy synth tones and broken beats, making for a listening experience that’s incredibly whimsical and sui generis. The author of such a masterpiece takes the name of James Fiori, and he hails from Sheffield, UK.

Also known by the moniker J Priori, Fiori has quite an interesting history behind him. A completely self-taught musician and producer, he enjoys laying out every instrument individually on FL Studio, carefully crafting a cosmic tapestry of sounds and rhythms that would impress even the most apathetic of listeners. In fact, ‘Power’ did command our attention almost instantly, with his boundary-pushing, leftfield character and playful flair.

Namely inspired by “all sorts of music and rock, specifically instrumentals from Yes and and Les Zeppelin to Joe Satriani and even Madeon”, James Fiori is quite the enigma. About ‘Power’, he explains: “It has the theme of a sort of Super Hero anime scene, the character is powering up and fighting the enemy”.
