Jake Vera Unveils Fiery Latest Effort ‘Time’

Jake Vera’s ‘Time’ is a particularly relevant and contemporary record, both from a sonic and lyrical standpoint. You see, being steeped in evocative alt-rock, the record fits the nostalgic resurgence of early ‘2000 alt influences perfectly, revealing an aural character that’s immensely emotional and expressive, while retaining its hard-hitting livery and fierce guitar tones. It reminds us of Deftones, among others. From a storytelling perspective, ‘Time’ is inquisitive and abstract, reflecting on the inevitability of death.

In a world that seems to have lost touch with spirituality, death is slowly becoming a hot topic. It has been for the majority of human history, but a lot of the coping mechanisms used in the last few centuries have now eroded (see religions), leaving us all to face a mystery that’s bigger than all of us. A mystery towards which we have no answers. That scares us, and scares Jake Vera, too. He’s an artist, though, so he’s able to express himself through wonderfully intense records, like ‘Time’ fully showcases.

Featuring the expert production of reactance and mix/mastering by Sefi Carmel (David Bowie, Bruno Mars, Michael Bublé), the single develops with precision and unique flair, leaving ample space for Vera’s malleable, memorable vocals. Delving deeper into the record, Jake explains: “It brings me back to the magical feeling of early 2000s alternative rock with a modern touch. It’s so energetic and hype yet mesmerising at the same time, to where I could just vibe out to the song.”
