You might wonder what happens when you pair together Colorado-based indie band Cadzo and EDM producer Hoolie. The two are obviously coming from very different perspectives, with the former favouring fuzzy guitars and rowdy drums, and the latter high-octane, digital and dancy tones. Taking up a bold, experimental approach, their collaboration worked very well: Cadzo and Hoolie did get together, with the Denver-based producer working on an impressive remix of ‘Larimer Street’.
Once a nostalgic rock’n’roll gem, ‘Larimer Street’ is now completely stripped of its primary identity, with Hoolie delving deep into dubstep and future bass elements, yet still maintaining the record’s relatable and vocal-first approach. In fact, the resulting remix is still stadium-ready and certainly massive, making for a listening experience that’s intense and rewarding.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, Hoolie explains: “This was a fun production as it meshed together the 4-piece band sound of vocals, drums, guitar, and keys to bring forth this new sound. The remix relies a lot on the original keys to keep a really fun chorus together, while bringing in other synths to add depth to the already great sound.”
