Harbinger Delves Into Space Electronica in Latest EP ‘Wavesyzer’

In ‘Wavesyzer’, Harbinger finds a common thread in cosmic-leaning synthwave, obscure electro-pop and hints of psychedelic elements. Of course, it’s all wrapped into a hypnotic, kinetic livery.

Jean-Michel Jarre, Kavinsky and Daft Punk have a lot of things in common. They are all French, and they all enjoy bathing in boundary-pushing electronica. Also, they all act as fertile inspiration for fellow French producer Harbinger and his recently released EP ‘Wavesyzer’. Hailing from Rennes, the talented creative finds a common thread in cosmic-leaning synthwave, obscure electro-pop and hints of psychedelic elements. Of course, it’s all wrapped into a kinetic livery, making the EP a perfect choice for the club as well as easy listening.

It just so happens that we are quite into vaporwave, synthwave and italodisco, in general, hence we deeply relate to anything we discover in ‘Wavesyzer’. Hints of Com Truise and Todd Terje make their way onto the record, while a potent French Touch aura emerges from its aural mist. The listening experience is certainly nostalgic and leftfield, but also timeless and otherworldly. ‘Titan’ is one of our favourite episodes on the EP, especially for its sumptuous synth sweeps, remnants of another era and purveyors of space-disco influences.

Out now via Night Night Records, ‘Wavesyzer’ marks Harbinger’s second EP to date, following up on 2024’s ‘Runner Spheres’. It’s clear that the talented producer holds a deeply personal passion towards the aforementioned artists and genres, something that truly transpires in the hypnotic and hazy soundscapes and melodies throughout the record.
