Greta Isaac Doubles Down on DOLLY ZOOM with Striking EP

We have already met Greta Isaac’s lush pop alter-ego DOLLY ZOOM, and one thing is clear: fierceness and boldness are served up by the bucket. There’s a lot of truth to that; in ‘SOFT SCOOP TALKING DOG’, the project’s hypnotic and EDM-powered character was clearly on display. Now, Isaac is back with yet another banger, ‘MOVIE STAR’, a hard-hitting, club-ready cut delivered with a ton of charisma and confidence.

The overall sonic references are all over the place, with early ‘2000s dance elements served on top of electro-rock and noisy, gritty decadence. In short, DOLLY ZOOM’s aura is upfront, boundary-pushing and rather mainstream-informed. For some reason, we are highly drawn to it, so much so that we’d also recommend listening to Isaac’s wider latest EP, ‘Dolly Zoom’.

Delving deeper into the inspiration behind the DZ alter ego and ‘MOVIE STAR’, Greta explains: “Here we really hear Dolly’s Delusion™ kicking into overdrive. Ultimately, it’s a song about the addictive desire for attention; where the extremities are limitless, self-sabotaging is turned up to 100, the stories we tell ourselves and others are grotesquely heightened for dramatic effect, and the need for validation becomes our own personal first language”.
