Glam Sam And His Combo Team Up with Angelina on ‘Talk in Colour’

Giving disco jazz a sensual, hypnotic character, ‘Talk in Colour’ is a pretty compelling record, we’d dare say a breath of fresh air in an overly standardised and grey reality. Yet, it’s also a dualistic piece, with two versions embracing vastly different vibes. You’ve got your ‘Brixton Jazz Edit’ – built on a nocturne, gentle arrangement still carrying a great deal of groove – and then you’ve got your ‘The Disco Jazz Explosion’ version. The latter option is more explosive and uplifting, yet still measured and elegant.

Such luscious adjectives are certainly not a surprise when taking into account the talented humans behind the record. Swedish outfit Glam Sam and His Combo has long captured audiences worldwide with their eclectic blend of dancy grooves, jazz sensibility and soulful flair. On vocals, we find Angelina, emerging from the Isle of Wight with her expansive, striking tone. Delving into the lyricism behind the track, she explains: “It’s about that stage in life where you’re discovering who you are: as a person, as a lover, as an artist. It’s a visual song, full of sensory overload and emotional intensity, exaggerated just enough to stay honest.”

Known as Mats Samuelsson by day, Glam Sam has managed to deliver another wonderful and nostalgic work, and we suspect the record will become a staple in jazz clubs and smoky, retro venues worldwide.
