Gabrielle Stein Returns with Boundary-Pushing Piece ‘I’m Not Adjusting Well’

That’s not our first encounter with Argentinian producer and songwriter Gabrielle Stein. Writing about ‘Heart Me’ in late 2024, we proudly declared the record “a sultry, lush alt-pop anthem”. We stand by our words; Stein’s unique artistry is rather boundary-pushing too, blending catchy pop melodies with leftfield aural solutions and quirky sound design. ‘I’m Not Adjusting Well’ is the strongest evidence of it, so far.

Gabrielle’s latest effort, the single offers an eclectic electronic-pop tune with a great deal of mystery and evocative charge. A well-versed producer and musician (especially when using Ableton Live), Stein’s work is rather genius. Not relying solely on synths and electronica, she’s able to mix acoustic elements in innovative and expansive ways, giving the final record an almost otherworldly result. Her vocals are the cherry on the cake, here delivered with a stream of futuristic effects on them.

Delving deeper into the lyrical message behind ‘I’m Not Adjusting Well’, the Buenos Aires-based artist explains: “This song is about that feeling you get when you’re not in sync with the reality around you and you don’t want to meet expectations or stay within the limits—whether set by others or yourself. It’s not always you who needs to do the adjusting…sometimes it’s the other way around. Live outside the lines, not even the sky should be the limit”.
