We may or may not have lost ourselves in Flores Blue’s hazy aural universe. If so, could you blame us? The English songstress seems to have reached her zenith, penning an EP that’s effortlessly cool. Drenched in lo-fi indie elements and dream pop allure, ‘Treehouse’ takes us into the project’s soothing, nostalgic universe, sharing four tracks that are a joy to listen to, starting from the slick and catchy indie opener ‘Vegas’.
Previous single ‘Start Again’ finds a worthy refuge in hazier and more poignant territories, with Flores Blue’s evocative vocals welcoming listeners into hopeful, escapism-driven lyricism – as we said, it’s easy to lose yourself in such a potent fever dream. ‘Trampolining’ acts as the EP’s key track, exhibiting an understated alt-folk character that’s a joy to listen to. ‘Words’ takes the record to a close with slow-paced, wholesome flair. What more could you wish for?
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Flores Blue explains: This EP was created with the best I had, reflecting its core theme– ‘just a tree and a house was enough. We tried to combine a DIY approach with something more expansive, pairing stripped-back indie production with an eclectic range of influences. The challenge was to achieve those larger-scale moments without losing the intimate, personal feel of the writing.”
