We are rather familiar with Los Angeles-based alchemist Esthy. She’s what we would call a holistic creative; proficient in music, visuals, and everything in between, she’s comfortably exploring the artistic landscape with a firm grip on mainstream culture and catchy pop anthems. We should know. Having written about Esthy’s records a fair bit in the past few years, we were relieved to see her returning with a brand new banger; this time around, the theme is country-pop.
Esthy approaches the genre with a deep understanding of what would make a song work: melodic, relatable, and energetic. ‘light it up’ is the perfect concoction of mainstream goodness, stomping euphoria, acoustic guitars and modern production. What more could you wish for? The lyricism is nuanced and introspective, yet the instrumental is uplifting and dance-inducing. Overall, the record rises to the highest level, making for a radio and chart-ready banger that will no doubt capture the attention of a vast audience.
