It took us a while to fully digest Emma Grace’s artistic output. Not because we didn’t appreciate it – in fact, we loved it – but because of its fringe, leftfield character, constantly pushing the listener to its limit, evoking a cathartic, brooding state of mind that can be uncomfortable at times. Of Italian-American origins, Grace defines herself as a “composer, musician, vocal music therapist”, a description that we can agree with. She’s also a keen violinist.
Emma is not your average artist, as ‘STUCK’ perfectly showcases. An atmospheric, abstract piece, the record finds its birthplace in an improvisational workflow, a creative space where Grace seeks not to operate under a set structure. In a way, it’s pure, unfiltered personal expression, the result of the talented sonic alchemist’s dive into her Freudian unconscious. Yet, it’s perhaps none of it; ‘STUCK’ exists within its own amplitude, its own space-time continuum that can be accessed willingly, simply by submitting to the composition’s emotive energy.
‘STUCK’ is the first single to be taken from Grace’s upcoming album, ‘SATELLITES’.
