Edie Yvonne Supercharges Her Indie Era with ‘Look Me in the Eye’

It’s a rather crucial year for Los Angeles-based teen sensation Edie Yvonne. Transitioning from bubbly pop music to a more mature, deeper and melancholic brand of indie goodness, the talented creative has recently unveiled her latest effort ‘Look Me in the Eye’, following up from previous single ‘I Changed My Mind’, celebrated by Mesmerized as “delving into fiercer territories, both on a sonic and lyrical level”. Only 16, Yvonne already sits on a substantial catalogue, and it’s fair to say that she has devoted much of her life so far to artistic expression.

Getting better year after year, Edie now flourishes on a gritty indie-flavoured production, with stripped-back guitars, gentle distortions and fuzzy drums perfectly supporting Yvonne’s nostalgic, introspective and relatable vocals. The overall vibe is gloomy and somber, as the gifted American artist confronts her inner conflicts and lingering emotional pains. As an easter egg, ‘Look Me in the Eye’ accelerates throughout, providing an intense push-and-pull that well reflects the song’s complex lyricism.

Described by Edie as “a fearless anthem of self-confrontation and emotional truth”, ‘Look Me in the Eye’ is bound to relate to a large audience out there. It does feel as though Yvonne is entering her best era so far… a belief that gets strengthened by an upcoming EP. Stay tuned!
