DUEL NATIVE Returns with ‘One Street Back’

The keen reader might remember Australian singer and songwriter DUEL NATIVE from an interview we did with him some time ago (link below). Indulging in a poignant exploration of human nature, the talented artist can be usually found delving into emotional and relatable territories – such as ‘Hiding Out’, a piece we described as “no other judgement we can give on it, other than confirming how good it is”.

We stand by our words, and we are happy to see DUEL NATIVE back with another showcase of pure artistry. ‘One Street Back’ is the project’s latest effort, a rather quirky and more spontaneous offering drenched in social commentary. Recorded as a one-take live version with an accompanying video, the track is certainly gritty and lo-fi in its execution, but it still convenes all the urgency and care behind DUEL NATIVE’s courageous lyricism.

Speaking about it, he explains: “This song is a lament on the fleeting nature of collective action in our society – how we’re so invested in making change but then we become apathetic because it feels “too hard” to think about social justice all the time”.
