Downtown Patriots Shares Meaningful Message in ‘Mother’s Arms’

Last time we wrote about Downtown Patriots we were in a rather… festive mood. Celebrating ‘Angels in the Snow’, we described the record as “a piece that well adapts to the Christmas joy we’ll all soon be feeling.” Now that’s all in the rearview mirror, It’s time to get back to regular programming, and the British troubadour doesn’t let us down. ‘Mother’s Arms’ is his latest effort, an evocative, nostalgic and heartwarming single showcasing Downtown Patriots’ earthy, jagged and hypnotising vocals.

Alongside a mainly acoustic, laid-back arrangement, built on gentle guitar tones and expansive piano chords, ‘Mother’s Arms’ promotes a rather meaningful message, seeking to inspire world peace and resisting the urge to take up arms and fight each other. Such loving lyricism is very central to the track, mirrored perfectly by the overarching elegant tones, all coming together into a sweet nugget of hope and purpose.

Penned and performed by Danny Watts – the talented human behind Downtown Patriot – ‘Mother’s Arms’ was recorded at Larchwood in Woodbridge, and mixed at the iconic Decoy Sound Studio in Suffolk by Robert Sellens. Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, Watts explains: “It was written in the wake of conflicts around the world”.
