DownTown Mystic Returns with ‘Maybe Love’s A Crime’

Downtown Mystic’s release streak is very productive, frequently collaborating with big names in the American music scene, That’s also the case for ‘Maybe Love’s A Crime’, a lovable shuffled cut that weaves a common storyline between rock and blues.

We have already spoken at length about Robert Allen, the talented musician and producer behind rock’n’roll outfit DownTown Mystic. His release streak is very productive, frequently collaborating with big names in the American music scene, and constantly maintaining a keen outlook for sync-friendly material. That’s also the case for Allen’s latest effort, ‘Maybe Love’s A Crime’, a lovable shuffled cut that weaves a common storyline between rock and blues.

The record ships with a TV Mix version, an instrumental that also includes backing vocals and harmonies. It’s easy to see why folks might license this: it’s incredibly well-recorded and catchy. On this occasion, Allen has gathered the likes of keyboard wiz Jeff Levine (Joe Cocker, Hall & Oates), drummer Steve Holley (Paul McCartney, Elton John), and bassist Paul Page (Ian Hunter, Dion). ‘Maybe Love’s A Crime’ is out now via Sha-La Music Publishing.

It was Page who gave Allen the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to choosing the right arrangements for the single. As Robert explains: “When Paul said Dion, I knew exactly what he meant since I’ve always been a big Dion fan. It was perfect for the track and worked like a charm.”
The result speaks for itself; DownTown Mystic is now a guarantee.
