Navigating a highly authentic and personal brand of fusion electronica, the record draws inspiration from a variety of sources, be it funk and jazz samples or brainiac and avant-garde hip-hop beats.
In truth, that’s exactly what wavlo stands for. Hailing from Seattle, the talented producer and visionary has built an aural universe that’s inherently his own, a place laden with psychedelic imagery and immersive videogame-esque synth tones. The kinetic feel is quite broken and swung, a feature that is deeply tied to wavlo’s jazz-leaning roots. Delving deeper into the ethos that propels ‘DIGITALISM’, wavlo explains: “A lot of it was inspiration from the early 2000s LA BEAT scene and the world of Adult Swim. Also, I listened to a lot of artists like J Dilla, Nujabes, Flylo, Aphex Twin, and Boards of Canada. I always gravitated to complex sounds and free-flow like rhythms/melodies.”
