The listening experience behind ‘Wandering’ is rather haunting and magical. Moving through highly melancholic and evocative territories, the record indulges in tender and crepuscular pop goodness, all drenched in elegant cinematic allure and wholesome character. From time to time, the album finds a welcome refuge in more atmospheric Americana territories, another piece of evidence of Tonje Gravningsmyhr’s songwriting expertise.
Hailing from Moss, Norway, the talented musician enjoys eclectic artistry, playing a variety of instruments and boasting the most angelic, tender vocals imaginable. She originally released ‘Wandering’ in 2023, and we must say, the record is still relevant today. Since then, Tonje has released a couple more albums. Both in English and Norwegian, and she’s also gearing up for a forthcoming LP, expected in spring 2027. The project is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels the album, Gravningsmyhr explains: “‘Wandering’ came to be through just that – wandering. In thoughts, feelings and life experiences. The main theme in the texts is love. The one that is lost, the new storming one and the wish for stability and safety. The often well-known fear of going for something great because you don’t want to lose everything once more. Dreams and hopes for something to last. The lyrics are relevant for right now just as much as for the future.”
