With this record, we are diving back in time; more precisely, to 2022. It was a pivotal time for Paul Wilkinson and The Station. After a few years of relentless and successful activities in the country-rock scene, the group felt the need to widen their sound, embracing more expansive British influences and taking a step away from anything Americana. ‘Catch You Dreaming’ showcases that perfectly, the first single of a bold new era.
To do so, the Danish/British project enlisted the help of producer and mixer Kasper Sandberg, who steered Paul Wilkinson and The Station towards a space where guitars and synths could co-exist. This is particularly evident in the outro of ‘Catch You Dreaming’, where a prominent synth bass joins the party, adding a new angle to a longstanding project. Originally from the UK, Paul Wilkinson brings an international flair to it all, with dynamic, melodic vocals to match.
As its title implies, ‘Catch You Dreaming’ feels cinematic and dreamy, taking The Station into the modern era. As Wilikson explains: “This single was a move toward a more synth-inspired music style. The ever-present country vibe is not as clear on this song compared to our back catalogue.” Plot twist: Paul and The Station now have a new album out, ‘Syncrocity’.
