Discover Chris McGinnis’ Vivid Lyricism

What if a single song could paint a scenario so realistic, that you would almost feel like you are in it? If that song existed, it would probably be called ‘Tuesday’, and its author would be Chris McGinnis. Hailing from the Appalachian mountains, the American singer and songwriter champions a friendly brand of folk music, infused with rock and Americana flavourings. What’s constant though, is his storytelling, always relatable and drawn from human experience. McGinnis’ latest effort takes the shape of a 10-track album, ‘Mamaw’s Angels’, from which ‘Tuesday’ is taken, together with its official video giving it particular attention.

Sharing a malleable and inviting folk aesthetic, ‘Tuesday’ showcases the American talent’s prowess for witty, heartfelt lyricism; it also illustrates his ability to extrapolate a certain moment in time, zoom on it, and expand it into musically rich goodness. Clocking in at just one minute and forty-eight seconds, the song is the perfect example of that: short yet engaging, volatile yet meaningful. McGinnis pleases the listener with an old-school rhythm session, riffing horns, and his evocative vocals, conveying perfectly the magnitude of his songwriting.

Defined as “manic loneliness”, Chris’ material wants to highlight the volatile nature of human relationships: sometimes, you need to wait for it, other times, you just need to endure it.
