Desert Man Unveils Vibrant EP ‘Love Kills’

What do Sweden and California have in common? Well, other than their longstanding foothold on the global music industry, they also function as incubators for Desert Man’s eclectic, visionary artistry. The moniker of Grammy-nominated artist and producer Sebastian Gäbel, Desert Man sees him diving into a cathartic and vibrant solo project, a nugget of nostalgic pop-rock and nuanced psychedelia now flourishing into a euphoric EP, ‘Love Kills’.

Featuring six timeless, personal episodes, ‘Love Kills’ saw the light of day during a trip to California. Hypnotised by the badlands of Socal, Gäbel transformed time spent in Joshua Tree and Anza Borrego into artistic inspiration, building an earthy, raw and vulnerable collection of introspective pieces. Fuzzy guitar tones and roaring drum grooves are a very familiar sight in the record, with Desert Man not shying away from the occasional forays into Americana and folk-rock territories.

Overall, ‘Love Kills’ is a charming, uplifting album, a cathartic body of work that joins instrumental energy with an enhanced lyrical exploration of human romance. Whichever way you look at it, Desert Man’s talent and visionary creative charge are almost undeniable, with a near-perfect recording and dynamic vocals that are a joy to listen to. A worthy discovery!
