Dardust has now become a bit of a legend in the Italian music scene. After having established himself as a gifted producer, a visionary composer, and a holistic artist not afraid of blurring the lines between genres and disciplines, the project has also built an international reputation, no doubt helped by Dardust’s quirky, cinematic electronica and his willingness to push the boundaries record after record. The reader might have seen him perform at the recent Opening Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.
That event marks a crucial milestone in Dardust’s longstanding career, also providing the foundation for his latest EP, ‘We Only Love Spaces and Doors’. In it, the listener is met with a rather eclectic blend of ambient-coded, minimalist pieces and more uplifting, club-oriented cuts, all sharing a deep leftfield ethos. Evocative and legendary, the EP drives a highly cinematic feel, especially thanks to the occasional orchestral components.
Delving deeper into the EP, Dardust explains: “‘We Only Love Spaces and Doors’ was born in that suspended space between separation and encounter. Doors are both a boundary and a promise – not barriers, but emotional thresholds. I have always preferred doors to mirrors. Doors open onto what we do not yet know, onto new dimensions. Mirrors reflect what we already are – our ego. Doors, instead, require courage. They ask for a gesture. They ask to be crossed.”
About the relationship between the record and the Winter Paralympic Games, he continues: “This EP was composed in the lead-up to the Opening Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, absorbing its core values: movement as a personal language, the relationship between body and environment, and a transformation of perspective. In this horizon, limits cease to be borders and become new possibilities for existence.”
For anyone keen, Dardust will be touring his new show ‘Urban Impressionism’ throughout the year.
