‘The Dream’ is a truly Scottish effort, and it shows. Earthy, charming and rather cathartic, the track is the latest gem to emerge from the experienced and inspired mind of Alan Crozier. Teaming up with Scouse music start-up iOcco Music, Glasgow-born vocalist Derek Yeaman and guitarist Nick Prentice, Crozier evokes an uplifting, hopeful atmosphere, one that’s incredibly expansive and packed with escapism. It’s also quite nostalgic, with classic rock tones co-existing with wholesome tinges of folk and Americana.
It’s been a busy couple of years for Alan. First debuting with ‘Die Young (As Late As You Can)’ in 2023, the Brighton-based songwriter and retired industry expert seems to have found his musical gift again, after taking a step back from performing arts during his youth. ‘The Dream’ pays homage to Crozier’s timeless songwriting flair, a sign that he’s destined to make music, yesterday like today.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Alan explains: “It is about early morning dreaming about being in another country, with someone you may not even know. We thought about giving it ‘In Another Country’ as a title, but landed with ‘The Dream’ – hopefully the sentiment will connect with people travelling to new places all over the world.”
