Delving into the circumstances behind ‘No Longer Lost’, we can’t help but think that the record was destined to happen. The universe brought together a surprisingly cohesive and purposeful group of people, guiding an artistic transformation that translates a poetry book into a stunning musical album. Guided by Cosmic Songbird’s overarching, multi-layered artistry, ‘No Longer Lost’ features fellow British creative and songwriter Frances Yonge, further developing into a cathartic, cinematic effort, a slice of soothing and hypnotic aural bliss in an overly gloomy reality.
An author and singer, Cosmic Songbird is known by day as Natalie Farrell, and when she’s not making music, she’s writing poetry. In fact, ‘No Longer Lost’ draws its lyrical wealth from Farrell’s recent poetry book, ‘Light The Way’. Yonge was crucial in pivoting such a nuanced literary work into potent songwriting, lending her stunning vocals and musicianship to the cause. Composer and musical director Sam Hall was also instrumental in giving the record a larger sonic breath, while Yonge’s husband, Paul Sayers, took charge of the mastering process.
Delving deeper into ‘No Longer Lost’, Cosmic Songbird explains: “‘No Longer Lost’ was born out of my poetry but quickly grew into something far beyond me. Frances’ response to the words brought the music to life, and together we poured these songs out in such a flow that it felt like they were waiting for us. This album feels like a constellation of archetypes finding their voice.”
