Claudia Balla Unveils Poignant Cut ‘The Old Magnolia’

Constantly oscillating between pop introspection and classical elegance, Claudia Balla reveals herself as a one-of-a-kind songstress, a gifted creative with deep knowledge of human emotions.

The tension between Claudia Balla’s classical roots and more modern influences continues to shape her artistic journey, showcasing the heightened eclecticism and observant introspection that have now become a sort of personal brand for the Switzerland-based songstress. We have already spoken at length about her music, covering a bunch of singles that ultimately led to Balla’s latest EP, ‘let’s see where this goes’. Recently, she has returned with ‘The Old Magnolia’, a single that’s taken from the aforementioned EP.

Only, this time around, the track has been modified to suit a more dramatic ethos, and it’s therefore dubbed as such (‘Dramatic Version’). Boasting a heightened cinematic allure and a punchier production, ‘The Old Magnolia’ develops with striking poignancy and unmatched elegance, providing the perfect aural background for Claudia Balla’s hypnotic, luscious vocals. As it’s often the case for the Geneva-based artist, her ability to craft dreamy and nostalgic records is one of the project’s best qualities.

Delving deeper into the song, Balla explains: “‘The Old Magnolia’ is a post-mortem of a situationship where the desperation to experience a love story leads to imagining something that has nothing to do with reality.” Taking such romantic storytelling into blissful and hazy territories, Claudia pens an absolute stunner, a piece that’s bound to aid reflection and deep emotional work within any listener out there.
